Indonesia - Borobodur

"This famous Buddhist temple, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, is located in central Java. It was built in three tiers: a pyramidal base with five concentric square terraces, the trunk of a cone with three circular platforms and, at the top, a monumental stupa. The walls and balustrades are decorated with fine low reliefs, covering a total surface area of 2,500 m2. Around the circular platforms are 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha. The monument was restored with UNESCO's help in the 1970s." Source: UNESCO World Heritage

I visited and climbed to the top of Borobudur. It is beautiful to see the serene plain of rice fields and the active volcanoes in the distance. I bought this and the next postcard for my collection when I was in Borobudur, Java.

Uttar Pradesh, literally means Northern Province, is located in Northern India with state capital Lucknow and economic capital Kanpur.

Taj Mahal, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A marble beauty which is a Masoleum by Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz.

Canada - Winterlude and Skating on the Rideau Canal

Ottawa - the capital of Canada was formerly called "Bytown" after Colonel John By who built the Rideau Canal. The upper part of the Rideau Canal for a few months in winter is turned into 8.5km long skating rink. Nice stamps used. Thanks to Manfred of Ottawa, Canada.
